Many people think that website ranking is about keywords. Well, that’s not entirely true or false. To determine a website ranking on the search engine, keywords placement is indeed important. However, it’s not the only thing that matters. You also need to pay attention to your website design.
You might think that your website design is already visually appealing, but that won’t guarantee a good rank in the search engine. So, since design plays an important role in making a great website, here’s how you can improve your website ranking through design.
One way to make sure that your website has a good design is through its navigation system. A good design means offering a great user experience, and that can only be achieved if people can navigate your website easily. This will make visitors spend more time on your website.
There are many ways you can try to make sure your website is easy to navigate. You can create targeted pages for each user category. Guide them to the pages using call-to-action (CTA) buttons. As an alternative, you can also try using a breadcrumb navigation and a sitemap. Breadcrumb navigation helps users keep track of where they are on the website, while a sitemap is a structured page hierarchy that is crawled by search engines.
People tend to revisit your website if they are pleased with what they see. That being said, make sure your website design have color combinations that work well together. You may want to do an A/B split test to determine which color combinations work best for your website. Most people do this by changing the colors of buttons or CTA to see which color combinations get longer on-page views and better conversions.
Did you know that social sharing also plays a major role in the website ranking on search engine results? Website with a good number of shares is most likely to rank higher than the one that’s not. This is why you should include a social sharing button on your website.
But, pay attention to the placement of your social sharing so that it wouldn’t annoy your visitors. It’s best if your share buttons close to your best content. In addition to that, create content that is relevant, informative, and encourage actions by visitors so that they’ll share it willingly.
We’re not saying that stock images aren’t helpful. But, in most cases, they have been overused in many websites or blogs. If possible, it’s better if you hire a professional photographer to create your own images. This will make your website design look more exclusive because anyone else won’t use your images. Personalized and compelling images can help attract people to keep visiting your website.
You might think your website design is already attractive, but when you look at the search engine results, the website ranking is relatively low. Cluttered elements may become the cause of your problem here. Take a look at your website, is there not much empty space or white space on your web pages? Empty areas can break up the flow for the viewer and that can be good. So, if there’s anything you don’t need on your web pages, just eliminate them. Less is more!
Last but definitely not least, make sure your website design has a consistent look. If you have a lot of mismatched web page designs, you will only risk your website ranking on the search engines.
